BOCC fills fair board vacancies and authorizes offer for development services director

The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 14 appointed three members to the county Fair Board and authorized the human resources department to extend a formal employment offer to the recommended candidate for director of development services.

During the meeting the board considered four letters of interest to fill three Fair Board openings. The commissioners nominated Wendy McKee, Darren McLaughlin and Kyler Scott and approved the appointments. One commissioner noted a future question about whether the fairgrounds director should serve as a liaison or as a voting Fair Board member; commissioners agreed that, given his existing engagement, serving on the board allows him to vote on matters.

Separately, Human Resources Director Rachel Bauer reported that two candidates were interviewed on Oct. 6 for the development services director position and that the hiring committee recommended Kent Nill Binder. Bauer requested board authorization to extend a formal employment offer for a full-time position with benefits and a listed salary range. A commissioner moved and the board authorized human resources to proceed with extending a formal offer to the recommended candidate.

Both personnel actions were approved by motion, second and recorded aye votes by the board.
