Select Board approves special-event and alcohol permits for Monarch Orchards grand openings
The Charlton Select Board unanimously approved a special alcoholic beverage license and a special-event permit Tuesday for Monarch Orchards’ grand-opening events, to be held Oct. 25 and Nov. 22, 2025.

Justin Tomer, a co-owner of the recently purchased orchard, told the board the owners closed on the property Aug. 29 and have been preparing the site. “We actually closed on it August 29. So we’re 6 weeks in,” Tomer said. “We’ve been, you know, taking care of it for the last 5 months and we’re finally getting to a point where, you know, we would like to welcome the community to enjoy what we have done so far and come and see where we’re at now.”

Town staff said the applications for wine and malt beverages and for a special-event permit were forwarded to the police chief, building commissioner and fire department for review and that those departments had approved the requests. The board’s policy requires that the alcoholic-beverage license dates include the day before the event to allow alcohol delivery, the event day and the day after for removal of leftover product; the license and permit before the board covered those dates.

Board members voted to approve the permits as submitted. Staff and the board wished the new owners well and encouraged the community to attend the grand-opening events.
