During roll call and the minutes discussion at the Oct. 15 Super Neighborhood Alliance meeting, member Greg raised a procedural objection citing the Alliance bylaws and recommended delaying approval of the minutes because he said proper notice had not been provided.
Greg told the group that the bylaws require the chair, secretary or designated officer to provide notice to Super Neighborhoods "5 days prior to any general meeting" specifying time, place and, if known, the agenda. He said that notice had not been given and that any formal action would therefore be improper. "This was not none, so there wasn't proper notice given for this meeting. So any action to be taken would not be proper," Greg said.
The Alliance agreed to defer approval. Amy, staff supporting the Alliance, asked Greg to submit corrections by email so staff could incorporate them; Amy said she would make changes if provided. Cheryl O'Brien, acting vice chair tonight, said they would withhold approval of the minutes until the next meeting so corrections and notice issues could be reviewed.
Nut graf: The Alliance paused formal approval of minutes after a member identified a potential violation of the organization’s notice provisions in its bylaws. Members agreed to collect corrections and revisit approval at the next meeting.
Ending: Members were asked to send proposed minute corrections to staff by email and the minutes will be resubmitted for consideration at a future meeting.
