Carla, presenting the finance report to the East Grand Forks Public School District board on Oct. 13, said general fund expenditures show an uptick in special education and instructional-support categories.
Carla said special-education spending is “up a little bit over last year,” driven in part by spending existing MA (Medicaid administrative) dollars. She said instructional support rose because of recent capital items, noting “the new bus we bought sits along with the new SUV and, our Chromebooks and staff devices.”
Carla told the board that food-service revenue appears low (about 2 percent) only because claims are posted with a month delay and will show in October’s report. On the treasurer’s report she said the district is “down a little bit in our cash position, but we'll just continue to watch the trend and hopefully swing it back the other way.”
Nut graf: The finance presentation framed the changes as timing and one-time purchases rather than systemic funding shortfalls; board members did not ask substantive follow-up questions beyond the presentation.
Carla answered board questions about the report and said delayed claims will correct the food-service figures next month. The board took no budget-altering action at the meeting.
