Carson City welcomed about 80 film industry visitors on a Nevada Day location tour designed to show local film‑friendly sites and support services, city tourism staff told the CTA board.

Staff member said the event, part of the Cordillera International Film Festival, took participants to Carson City, Virginia City and North Lake Tahoe to view potential filming locations and experience local services. "They loved it," the presenter said, describing feedback at multiple stops including the depot, McFadden Plaza and nearby Sand Harbor.

Tom Gray and other local organizers staged demonstrations and displays tied to movies filmed in the area; staff said Gray arranged several specialty cars and on‑site displays that helped visiting producers visualize shoots. Staff also recounted an on‑site ice cream social at McFadden Plaza and a catered lunch at Sand Harbor, provided at short notice by Laurie Baxter of Bella Vita, who staff said used the opportunity to promote local catering options for film sets.

Staff told the board several visiting producers expressed concrete interest. One guest was said to be considering a project in Carson City, and another was reported to be planning three films in the area. The presenter noted the goal was to position Carson City as an alternative to shipping large sets by trailer and to highlight locations that appear historically unchanged.

Board members and staff said the tour showcased how local locations, coordinated catering and municipal support can reduce production logistics and attract shoots. Staff said they will follow up with visiting industry contacts to convert interest into film projects and to promote the city in Nevada’s film economy.
