The Fall River Commission on Disability announced plans to sponsor a virtual Community Access Monitor in June 2026, approved its Sept. 17, 2025, meeting minutes by roll call and announced the reappointment of Commissioner Dan Robillard as treasurer during a meeting on Oct. 8, 2025, in Fall River City.
Chairman Dennis Paselli said, "Jeff Dugan and I talked last week, and we will be sponsoring a virtual community access monitor in June 2026." He told commissioners the date will be finalized in December and that the event will follow the Massachusetts Office of Disability format: virtual and held as two nonconsecutive days ("1 day 1 week and 1 day another week").
The commission also reviewed administrative items related to its scholarship program and finances. Commissioners were told a September budget report was distributed by email and that the 2025 scholarship cycle is essentially closed. Paselli said he received confirmation from McGovern's restaurant for a May 16 event (not on Memorial Day weekend) and that the scholarship application deadline will be April 1, 2026; the commission will set the 2026 scholarship amount at its April meeting.
Paselli announced he is reappointing Commissioner Dan Robillard as treasurer; Robillard responded, "Absolutely, mister chairman. Thank you for your your con continued confidence and support. I look forward to working with you and the entire commission. Thank you." Paselli clarified that chair appointments do not require a formal vote.
On a procedural motion, the commission approved the minutes of its Sept. 17, 2025, meeting by roll call. The meeting closed after the commission set its next meeting for Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 3:00 p.m. and then voted to adjourn.
The commission noted several October awareness activities including Employment of People with Disabilities Month, White Cane Safety Month and a State House event on Oct. 24 that will be broadcast on radio reading services; Paselli said he will provide fact sheets for local FRG TV to use on-screen.
