The Wayne County Board of Education on Oct. 6 approved multiple purchase orders and facilities items presented by committee, including cafeteria equipment purchases paid from child nutrition funds.
The board approved a purchase to replace two serving lines at Southern Wayne High School for $61,552.99 and a dish machine for $37,186.36; district staff said the dish machine award was based on a single bid and child nutrition funds will cover the cost. The board also approved an outside freezer unit for Carver Heights at an accepted bid of $52,525; staff said two bids were received for that item. All votes were unanimous.
Facilities committee chair Mr. Sanders reported the committee approved a softball lighting item serving Wayne School of Engineering and Goldsboro High School, a support services purchase order, and a fire-panel item for the old Fremont school site. Mr. Sanders also reported the committee discussed a spring sewer agreement and the School Street property.
District staff described a third year of a boiler contract covering boilers across the district; staff said the contract is a continuation in year three and covers the district generally.
Because several items originated in committee, the board moved them to the consent or regular agenda and approved them by unanimous hand-raise votes. Child nutrition staff confirmed the funding sources for the cafeteria equipment purchases.
