At the Sept. 8 RSU 4 meeting, committee chairs reported early fiscal-year budget numbers, facilities updates and technology and Title-program staffing.
The finance and facilities report covered year-to-date receipts and expenditures through Aug. 31: the district had received $3,079,622.97 in revenue (about 13.32% of anticipated revenue) and general-fund expenditures plus encumbrances of approximately $3,200,084 (about 13.88% of the budget). The report noted adult education and school nutrition receipts and expenses (adult ed revenue $6,489.06 year-to-date; school nutrition receipts $46,879.90 year-to-date) and said these figures were broadly in line with last year when adjusted for timing differences. Committee members also reported completion of the Savannah primary closure and transfer (sale proceeds were noted as over $8,000 from an ad sale) and that final lawyer signoffs were complete; possession and keys have transferred to the receiving entity.
The committee said the district completed year-end cost-center adjustments, shifting roughly 5% from other cost centers to cover an overage in maintenance and referenced a loan payment in the four-figure range. The board was told the FY25 audit process has begun and will continue into the coming month, with central office staff compiling requested materials. The committee also said the district is preparing a School Revolving Renovation Fund (SRRF) application; the district will return to the board at the next meeting to discuss candidate projects and whether to proceed with the application process.
On the CAI/technology committee report, Teresa (committee spokesperson) said required Title I/II/IV applications are filed and that Title staffing includes three coaches (two math coaches and one combined PBIS/literacy coach) plus interventionists (two literacy, two math) staffed by EdTech Threes. The committee welcomed Stephanie Weber as the new technology director; Weber previously worked in Auburn and the committee said she is working on system passwords and inventories.
Teresa also reported the fall assessment window will run Sept. 15–Oct. 24; committee discussion included whether to keep a winter midyear assessment window given frequent testing. No formal committee motions tied to purchases or contract awards were advanced in the excerpted discussion.
Board members asked questions and offered thanks to custodial and maintenance staff for preparing buildings for the school year and praised the district's new transportation software for improving bus stop timing for families.
