Punta Gorda City — Plan administrator Chrissy told trustees that the new pension portal — a password‑protected online tool that will let members estimate benefits, check vesting and access plan documents — is in final review and expected to roll out in about three weeks.
The portal is intended to let members run benefit estimates and access documents such as the summary plan description; staff said each member will receive a registration code and instructions. “It will be ready, I'm guessing, in about 3 weeks,” Chrissy said during the meeting, and staff will coordinate with Trustee Alicia Oates (IT liaison) on delivery and member outreach.
Trustees discussed outreach and training. Chrissy proposed a short “pension workshop” at rollout where staff would demonstrate the portal and help members with buybacks, beneficiary updates and other administrative items; the board asked that staff record or provide a replay for members who cannot attend in person. Trustees discussed using a private video link (private YouTube or similar) and agreed the portal should include training materials.
The board also reviewed an annual update document covering the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30. Trustees agreed to route the summary first to the city manager and finance director for internal review and then to the full plan membership via the portal and email. Chrissy noted the annual update in the packet covered the prior fiscal year (ending 09/30/2024) and that a current update as of 10/01/2025 will follow once valuation and actuarial work is complete.
Trustees and staff also reviewed continuing‑education opportunities. The board encouraged attendance at Florida Public Pension Trustees Association events and agreed Foster and Foster would cover registration for trustees who elect to attend.
No formal votes were required for the portal rollout; staff were directed to finalize testing with IT and to send registration instructions to trustees for review before member distribution.
