DDA members were told the market has gained momentum after relocating to the Southeast Lot; staff said signage will be increased and the final market date will move from Aug. 9 to Aug. 16 because of a car show.
The Clawson Market has been moved to the Southeast Lot and is “off to a strong start,” a city staff member told the Clawson Downtown Development Authority at its June 18 meeting.
The staff member said the relocation is intended to increase visibility and foot traffic for downtown businesses. “We have moved it to reimagine it through the lens of our downtown development goals. So we've relocated it to the Southeast Lot. This not only increases visibility, but also drives more consistent foot traffic to local businesses,” the staff member said.
Market organizers reported momentum in the first three events and said they will add more signage at the market site and at Rotary Park Place. Staff also said the market's final date was being moved from Aug. 9 to Aug. 16 because of a car show; staff reported that several vendors who had not been scheduled for Aug. 9 can participate on the new date.
Board members asked whether signage could also be placed at the former market site; staff confirmed they could do so. No formal action was required for the report; members received the update and noted the upcoming change of date for vendor coordination and promotion.
