Ridgecrest city communications reported that on Sept. 16 the Ridgecrest Police Department apprehended a suspect after a shooting was reported in the 400 block of Northwell Canyon Drive. The department credited its license-plate camera system and rapid officer response and said no further violence occurred.
City narration also said earlier in the month RPD officers recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested two suspects; officers reported recovering stolen credit cards, drugs and paraphernalia during that incident. The city did not provide suspect names, charges, or booking details in the announcement.
The city additionally noted a personnel promotion: on Sept. 17 the city “proudly celebrate[d] Marty Durrell’s promotion to reserve sergeant,” the narration said. At the Sept. 17 city council meeting, the city recognized Sergeant Groves, Sergeant Lloyd, Officer Coe, Officer Smith and SRO Galvez for representing Ridgecrest at the World Police and Fire Games in Birmingham, Alabama.
The announcement came in the city’s monthly recap video and is not presented as an official police department press release in the recording. The city did not include additional incident reports, case numbers, or details about ongoing investigations in the video; those items were not specified.
