Cocoa Beach approves multiple contracts for grounds maintenance across 34 service areas

The Cocoa Beach City Commission approved the selection committee’s recommendation to award grounds maintenance contracts under bid CB25‑009 to five companies to service 34 areas across the city and authorized staff to enter into contracts with all five firms. The item passed 3‑0.

Bridal Casla, water reclamation and public works director and staff representative for the item, presented the recommendation; the staff characterized the expense as budgeted for fiscal year 2026.

A commissioner who moved the item said it was positive that the city was awarding multiple contracts rather than selecting a single vendor, noting that in the past the city sometimes awarded to a single contractor. "This way, they all get a piece of the pie," the commissioner said, and added that existing contracts with no renewals remaining were a factor in the decision.

The commission voted "Aye" and the clerk recorded the item as "Passes 3 0." Staff may now execute contracts with the listed vendors. The transcript named the companies and representatives in the staff report as US Lawns; W and G G Maintenance Corp; Rob Potts; Lawns by Scott; and Marlow Landscaping.
