City Council adopted a budget amendment on Oct. 6 to allocate approximately $27,000 received from the West Virginia treasurer's unclaimed property to repave outdoor basketball courts, adopting Resolution 25-095.
"This budget amendment recognizes the receipt of approximately $27,000 from the West Virginia treasurer's unclaimed property that the city was entitled to. And that $27,000 will be going to the parks department to repave, some of the outdoor basketball courts that, sorely need it," Council member Jenkins said when reporting the finance committee's recommendation.
The council approved the amendment; the committee recommended adoption. The amendment was presented as a direct appropriation of the newly received funds to a specific parks repair project. Council proceeded to vote in favor of the committee recommendation and the clerk recorded the vote in the meeting roll call.
The resolution text lists the account changes on an attached schedule; the council did not attach additional conditions to the repaving allocation during the floor discussion.
