The Box Elder School District Board approved LEA-specific licenses and endorsements for the 2025–26 school year and heard district recognitions for staff and a new district "C" award program.
District staff explained that an LEA-specific license allows a teacher with a bachelor’s degree to be licensed to teach only in the Box Elder School District when an associate or professional state license is not yet in place. Karina (district staff) and other presenters said the LEA-specific endorsements give teachers additional authorized subjects for a limited period and are commonly used for CTE and specialized subject coverage. The board approved the list of individual LEA-specific licenses and endorsements that staff presented; presenters said all listed individuals were already working in the district and that the district requires follow-up coursework or competency demonstrations within the three-year endorsement term.
Separately, the district recognized several employees at the start of the meeting. Jamie Kent, public information officer, presented the first round of district “C” recognitions — strengthening PLCs, expanding student connections and elevating employee appreciation — and awarded individual staff members. The board also paused for public comments from the Box Elder High School theater program, which invited the community to its annual musical production on Nov. 7; student Dylan Stewart, a student teacher from SUU, delivered the invitation on behalf of the theater group.
Board members asked for future personnel and license listings to be organized by school to avoid scrolling through long lists, and staff agreed to provide one file per school going forward. The LEA-specific licenses and endorsements were approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
