The Liberty Elementary School District Governing Board on Oct. 8 directed the board secretary to keep the district’s shared events calendar updated after several trustees said they had not been receiving regular invitations to site events.

Vice President Kenyon raised the issue, saying board members had not been routinely invited to district events since the school year began and that a centralized calendar was needed so trustees could see events and support schools. "For us, for whatever reason, not be invited to district events was concerning to me," Kenyon said.

Board Secretary (name given in meeting transcript) said the district had been working on a shared Google calendar; she said IT created the calendar, it had been shared with board members, office managers and site staff, and principals and site managers were responsible for adding events and sending invites. IT staff members Lane and Eric acknowledged delays and apologized for not having completed the shared calendar earlier; they said the calendar now contains events district-wide, including sporting events.

Board members discussed whether individual calendar invites were necessary and agreed, as a courtesy, trustees should notify site principals when they plan to attend events. Vice President Kenyon moved to direct the board secretary to keep the district calendar updated; the motion passed 4-0.
