The Civilian Review Board voted at its October meeting to request an enhanced monthly report from the Office of the Inspector General and scheduled a November meeting discussion on a public-facing dashboard's feasibility and cost.
Board member Dr. Jones moved that the IG provide an "enhanced monthly report" with additional breakdowns beyond the basic totals (allegation types, precinct or zone hot spots, dispositions, active/administrative-hold counts and similar fields). The motion passed by voice vote. Dr. Jones and other members argued that more-detailed monthly reporting supports early identification of trends and improves transparency to the public and to CPD command staff.
IG Hendrix said the office already issues quarterly and annual reports and that the office provides a variety of documents to the board; he cautioned that the Matrix case-management system only stores the fields that have been configured and that certain requested items (for example, officer shift) are not currently tracked. Hendrix said the office is willing to identify precisely which fields it can report from Matrix now and which would require additional work, and that some first-month reports might be delayed while data are scrubbed.
Board members also pressed for an update on prior feasibility work for a public dashboard. Chair Burns proposed setting aside time at the November meeting for IG staff to present findings on cost and technical feasibility and invited the city IT department (or a representative) to attend. Members recommended submitting IT questions in advance so IT can coordinate with Matrix and other departments.
Ending: The board formally requested enhanced monthly reports from the IG going forward and scheduled a November agenda item for a dashboard feasibility briefing, with an expectation that IG staff will outline which requested fields can be produced from current systems and which require additional resources or systems changes.
