Kosciusko County Commissioners have taken significant steps to enhance local land use and development during their meeting on September 23, 2025. The commissioners unanimously approved the vacation of a section of Ray Drive within the Old Ray Subdivision, a move aimed at cleaning up unused right-of-way space between residential properties and US 30. This decision follows a favorable recommendation from the Planning Commission, which noted that the area has not been developed and has been maintained by the county over the years.

In addition to the right-of-way vacation, the commissioners reviewed two rezoning requests that could impact local development. The first request involved a 3.25-acre tract of land south of Packard Road, where the petitioner seeks to rezone from agricultural to Ag 2 zoning. This change would allow for the subdivision of the land into up to three residential lots, contingent upon soil testing and meeting other development criteria. The Planning Commission also supported this request unanimously, despite some community remonstrance.

The second rezoning request involved an 8.8-acre tract south of State Route 14, where the petitioner aims to downsize and build a second residence. This request was similarly met with unanimous approval from the Planning Commission, highlighting the area's existing Ag 2 zoning and the proposed plan for a common driveway to enhance safety.

These decisions reflect the county's ongoing efforts to manage land use effectively while accommodating community growth.
