The proposed amendments would enable childcare facilities to operate in nearly all land uses outlined in the comprehensive plan, excluding parks and open spaces. Currently, support commercial uses are limited to services like restaurants and office supplies, but the inclusion of childcare would diversify these offerings.

Additionally, the amendments would increase the allowable size for support commercial uses, while maintaining an overall cap of 15,000 square feet. However, the proposal does face challenges, particularly regarding state regulations that require childcare facilities to have access to outdoor play areas.
