Page County Public Schools celebrated the bright futures of two aspiring educators during their recent school board meeting on August 28, 2025. The spotlight shone on Sofia Barreker and Emily Tedder, both students recognized for their commitment to the Future Educators Academy.

Sofia, a 16-year-old junior at Page County High School, expressed her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. "I've always admired the teachers in my life and the positive impact they've had on me," she shared. Sofia is not only passionate about education but is also pursuing college-level courses that will allow her to earn an associate's degree in education by the time she graduates in 2027.

Emily Tedder, another standout student, reflected on her desire to give back to her community, inspired by her mother’s involvement in local organizations. She discovered her path through the Future Educators Academy at Laurel Ridge, stating, "When I first learned of the program, it was like everything clicked for me." Emily expressed her pride in being part of this initiative and her optimism for its future.

The recognition of these students highlights the importance of nurturing future educators and the role of community programs in shaping their aspirations.
