Woodside Town leaders are pushing for a transformative redesign of Woodside Road to enhance safety and community appeal. During the TCAP Community Advisory Committee meeting on August 26, 2025, a key discussion centered on reshaping the road to slow traffic and create a more pedestrian-friendly environment.
A committee member highlighted the need to alter the road's appearance, suggesting it should resemble a downtown street rather than a highway. "If we could reshape the road so that people slowed down, it would make pedestrian opportunities much better," they stated, emphasizing the importance of safety for children walking to school and the overall experience for residents.
The conversation also acknowledged the town council's proactive approach in extending boundaries to better capture the roadway in planning efforts. The committee is collaborating with Alta Planning, which specializes in traffic and pedestrian safety, to explore innovative solutions that could reduce the highway-like feel of Woodside Road.
This initiative aims to foster a more inviting atmosphere for both residents and visitors, making public spaces more enjoyable and accessible. As discussions continue, the committee is optimistic about the potential changes that could significantly enhance the town's character and safety.
