Direct Support Professionals received a heartfelt tribute at the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners meeting on September 4, 2025, as the board proclaimed this week as Direct Support Professionals Appreciation Week. Chad Van Onan, director of Johnson County Developmental Supports, introduced two exemplary professionals, Henry McDaniel and Wendy Cummings, who shared their experiences. McDaniel, with 24 years of service, spoke about the joy he feels when clients reach their goals, while Cummings, who has dedicated 29 years to the field, expressed gratitude for the recognition and support from the community.
