The meeting commenced with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the introduction of the mayor's agenda. Mayor Tyrone Garner presented a proclamation declaring September 15 to October 15, 2025, as Hispanic Heritage Month in Wyandotte County. This month-long celebration honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic Americans, particularly highlighting the importance of the Hispanic community in the region, which comprises 34.4% of the county's population.

Mayor Garner emphasized the profound impact of the Latino community on the local economy and culture, noting their contributions to various sectors, including education, business, and the arts. He acknowledged the growing Latino population in Wyandotte County and expressed pride in their achievements and ongoing influence.

The meeting also featured the recognition of 21 individuals, businesses, and organizations that exemplify the spirit of the Hispanic community. Chief of Staff Irene Gaudillo introduced the first seven honorees, including Mario Escobar, Edgar Galicia, and Randy Lopez, each celebrated for their significant contributions to the community. Their achievements ranged from civic engagement and business leadership to educational advocacy and cultural promotion.
