Leawood's Planning Commission has taken significant steps towards the development of a new mixed-use project that promises to reshape the local landscape. During the recent session on September 5, 2025, city officials discussed plans for a large property that will include office buildings, residential units, a childcare center, and various amenities.
The proposed development will feature two main office buildings, known as HQ 1 and HQ Expansion, along with a retreat center and additional office space. A childcare center is also planned for the northern end of the property, catering to families in the area. The project will include two multifamily residential buildings, enhancing housing options for residents.
Parking solutions have been carefully considered, with each office and residential building set to have its own underground parking structures. Additionally, two parking structures will be constructed along State Line Road to accommodate visitors to the event space and office building.
The design includes a primary internal road that will facilitate access to the various buildings, with on-street parking to enhance convenience for visitors. A secondary road will also be developed to improve traffic flow around the HQ buildings.
This ambitious project, which builds on the existing Leawood Dog Park established in 2015, aims to maximize the use of the property while addressing community needs. As the city moves forward with these plans, residents can expect a blend of commercial, residential, and recreational spaces that will contribute to the vibrancy of Leawood. The Planning Commission's discussions mark a pivotal moment in the city's growth, setting the stage for future developments that prioritize accessibility and community engagement.
