The City Council of Clarksville held a regular session on September 4, 2025, where several key topics were discussed, including transportation updates and a significant resolution honoring a local figure.
Transportation Committee Chairman Smith reported that the Clarksville Transit System (CTS) transported a total of 48,036 riders in August. This included 43,714 riders on fixed routes, with 9,182 seniors riding for free. Additionally, paratransit buses served 4,322 riders. The Street Department completed 371 work orders during the month, with notable roadwork on various streets, including Abigail Drive and Cedar Hill Drive. Upcoming projects include ongoing work on Spring Creek Parkway and Tyler Town Road.
The City Garage reported a total of 443 work orders for August, with fuel purchases amounting to $90,017.92 for unleaded gas and $30,469 for diesel. There was a slight increase in fuel prices, with unleaded gas rising from $2.28 to $2.33 per gallon and diesel from $2.52 to $2.66 per gallon.
In new business, the council unanimously approved Resolution 18-2025-26, designating Oak Street from New Providence Boulevard to D Street as Kenny York Memorial Way. This resolution received a 12-0 vote in favor.
During the meeting, Councilman McLaughlin invited the public to the opening of the Montgomery County North Branch Library on September 13, while Councilman Bader announced the opening of a new animal shelter on the same day.
