The paramedic supervisor from Trinity Ambulance noted that without Messier's intervention, the outcome could have been tragic.
Officer Richard Locks and his canine partner, Farrell, were also commended for locating a woman who had threatened suicide after taking prescription medications. Their search led to the discovery of the unconscious woman in thick vegetation, and their timely intervention ensured she received the medical attention she needed, potentially saving her life.
Officer Curtin received two life-saving awards for his exceptional responses to critical incidents. In one case, he provided emergency first aid to a motorcycle operator with multiple traumatic injuries, applying tourniquets to control severe bleeding. His actions were pivotal in stabilizing the victim until emergency services arrived. In another incident, he responded to a stabbing, where his quick assessment and application of first aid prevented further blood loss and ensured the victim received necessary medical care.
