Mayor Celebrates Carson Heroes at Annual Recognition Ceremony

The City of Carson celebrated its community heroes during a recent council meeting, highlighting the contributions of local individuals who have made significant impacts in the lives of residents. The newly launched Carson Heroes program aims to recognize those who exemplify dedication, service, and pride in the city.

Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes opened the meeting by emphasizing the importance of community members who go above and beyond, not just first responders. "A Carson Hero is someone who shows a strong commitment to service and is passionate about making a positive impact," she stated, inviting attendees to honor these everyday heroes.

The meeting featured a video presentation showcasing the achievements of the honorees, followed by the recognition of several individuals. Among them was Deputy Lasandra Vega, acknowledged for her unwavering commitment to public safety and youth advocacy. Public Safety Commissioner Randy Brown was also honored for his compassionate service to the homeless community, while Captain Baron Dome received accolades for his dedication to protecting Carson residents.

Dr. Virgie Seymour, a prominent advocate for senior citizens, was recognized for her tireless efforts in improving the well-being of the elderly in the community. Myrna Ronquillo, another honoree, was celebrated for her inspiring leadership and work with various organizations serving the community.
