City planners highlighted that the revised design now allows for left turns at certain driveways, a shift from the previous plan that treated centerlines as barriers. This change aims to improve traffic flow and accessibility for residents. Additionally, the design incorporates protective measures for cyclists, addressing concerns raised by the biking community about vehicles parking in bike lanes on Delaware Street. To combat this issue, the city plans to install bollards and create designated short-term parking spaces for residents accessing nearby apartments.

Prior to the final community meeting on August 19, city staff reached out to residents through various channels, including sending over 7,000 mailers in multiple languages and conducting door-to-door outreach. While the revised design received positive feedback overall, some residents expressed concerns about retaining four travel lanes, which could impact the width of bike lanes.
