Reno County Approves $570K Bid for EMS Station 2 Remodel Construction

Reno County is moving forward with the remodeling of EMS Station 2, following a successful bidding process that attracted four contractors. During the Reno County Board of County Commissioners meeting on August 27, 2025, Kyle Stewart, the director of facilities, presented the results of the sealed bids, which were opened on July 21 and finalized on August 18.

The base bid for the project came in at $570,000, well below the $600,000 cap set for the remodel. This leaves an additional $30,000 to cover potential alternates and contingencies. Stewart emphasized the importance of value engineering, stating that the goal is to create a solid and well-maintained facility that will serve the public for decades, without unnecessary frills.

Commissioners expressed their satisfaction with the competitive bids and the involvement of local builders, highlighting the community's interest in the project. The board is set to approve the bid from MBC, ensuring that the project remains on track while also exploring further cost-saving measures.

As the project progresses, the focus will remain on delivering a functional and efficient EMS facility that meets the needs of Reno County residents.
