Lancaster ISD thanks Concord Church for donation during special service

The Lancaster Independent School District (ISD) held its Regular Board Meeting on August 27, 2025, focusing on community engagement, upcoming events, and performance reports. The meeting began with a highlight of a generous donation from Concord Church, which Superintendent Dr. Barker accepted on behalf of the district during a special Sunday service. The board plans to express gratitude through a formal vote in October.

Following the donation acknowledgment, the meeting transitioned to upcoming events and general information. Superintendent Dr. Barker shared that the district's athletic teams, referred to as the Tigers, are performing well. In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, Lancaster ISD will launch a social media video campaign. This initiative will feature students and staff, highlighting historical facts and achievements relevant to the Hispanic community. One of the anticipated events is the Kindergarten Kick-Out Tailgate, scheduled for September 19 during a home game. The event will run from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, allowing students to run on the field, creating an exciting atmosphere for families and attendees.

Additionally, the district offices and campuses will be closed on Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day, with students returning on Tuesday, September 2.

The meeting concluded with a report from Conservator Donna Francois, who commended the board for achieving a significant milestone: 100% completion of eighth-grade training for the first time in two years. This accomplishment reflects the dedication and effort of the board members, who were recognized for their commitment to the district's goals.
