The director closed her remarks by announcing the death of longtime librarian Lila Dooley, who worked at the Carlsbad City Library from 1987 to 2017. \"We will miss her and we're saddened to hear of her recent passing,\" Smithson said.

Dunn said a beginning and refresher course filled to capacity with 55 registrants and received positive evaluations. A memoir writing class also drew participants who reported building relationships through class work.
