A special summer project aimed at enhancing literacy skills took center stage during the City of Carlsbad Library Board of Trustees meeting. The initiative, titled "Write Your Story," empowers learners to collaborate with tutors to craft, edit, and refine their personal narratives.

Participants not only focused on writing but also engaged with new software to create visually appealing books. One poignant example highlighted was a learner who dedicated her book to her late grandson, who passed away from a congenital heart defect. With the help of her tutor, an artist, she illustrated the book, resulting in a heartfelt tribute that celebrates family and resilience.

This project not only fosters creativity and self-expression but also strengthens essential writing and editing skills. The library plans to incorporate these meaningful works into its storytelling, publishing, and art programs, showcasing the powerful impact of personal storytelling within the community.
