Hammond Health Foundation hosts free pop-up clinic with medical services at East Middle School

Residents of Erie will soon have access to vital health services as the Hammond Health Foundation prepares to host a free pop-up clinic on September 12-13, 2025. This initiative, supported by over 300 volunteers, aims to provide essential medical, dental, and vision care to those in need, particularly in neighborhoods facing significant health disparities.

The clinic will feature a unique two-story mobile unit equipped with comprehensive medical facilities, including a pharmacy, dental office, and vision center. Last year, the clinic successfully served over 300 individuals, providing critical services such as dental extractions, physical exams, and on-site vision care. One notable success story involved a young man who received glasses for the first time, allowing him to experience the world with clarity.

This year, the clinic will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, with doors opening at 6 AM on September 13. Residents are encouraged to arrive early, as registration will begin at midnight. While the clinic will offer a range of services, organizers are still seeking optometrists to assist with vision screenings.

In addition to medical care, the event will feature community partners like Serve Erie, which will provide meals for volunteers, and UPMC Health Plan, which will host a neighborhood center offering resources and information to attendees. Erie Bank is the major sponsor for this year's event, contributing significantly to its funding.
