Cocoa City Council considers extending waste management contract and enhancing collection services

2. **Option 2**: Add regular bulk yard waste collection every other week, extending the contract for two years, which would increase monthly fees by approximately $2.44.
3. **Option 3**: Introduce regular bulk trash collection, also extending the contract for two years, with a monthly increase of about $1.83.
4. **Option 4**: Combine options 2 and 3 for both bulk yard waste and bulk trash collection every other week, resulting in a $3.74 monthly increase.
5. **Option 5**: Continue negotiations with Waste Management without making immediate changes.

Council members expressed strong support for Option 4, citing the need for improved services to enhance community aesthetics and property values. Many noted that residents have voiced a willingness to pay more for better waste management services, particularly in light of ongoing issues with trash accumulation in neighborhoods.

The council also discussed the importance of effective communication with residents regarding the new service schedule, emphasizing the need for clear information on pickup days and procedures.
