Planning Commission Approves Sheridan Heights Ranch and Kendrick Golf Course Annexations

The Sheridan Planning Commission convened on August 25, 2025, to discuss two significant annexation proposals. The meeting focused on the recommendation of two ordinances to the city council, specifically Ordinance 22-95 concerning the de-annexation of land owned by Sheridan Heights Ranch LLC and Ordinance 22-97 regarding the annexation of a portion of the Kendrick Golf Course.

The first item on the agenda was the de-annexation of 3.64 acres from the city, which is currently owned by Sheridan Heights Ranch. City Planner Kelly Shirk clarified that this land is being removed from the city’s jurisdiction. In contrast, the second item involved the annexation of 4.15 acres of land owned by the city, which will now be incorporated into the city limits, effectively expanding the boundaries of the Kendrick Golf Course.

During the discussion, it was noted that the golf course has already been maintaining the additional land, which aligns with the proposed changes. The commission members expressed understanding of the adjustments and confirmed that the golf course would have more area to manage, although they have been operating as if they owned the land previously.

After addressing any questions from the commission, the public comment period was opened but yielded no responses. The commission proceeded to vote on the motions. The first motion to recommend the de-annexation of the 3.64 acres was passed unanimously. Following this, the second motion to recommend the annexation of the 4.15 acres was also approved without opposition.

With both motions successfully passed, the meeting concluded with no further business on the agenda. The commission members and staff were invited to share any final comments, but no additional discussions were raised. The outcomes of these motions will now be forwarded to the city council for further consideration.
