Sampson County Economic Development Workshop Unites Officials and Stakeholders for Growth Strategies

The Sampson County Economic Development Strategic Plan Workshop held on August 22, 2025, gathered local elected officials, community stakeholders, and members of the Economic Development Advisory Board to discuss strategies for fostering economic growth in the region. The workshop aimed to clarify the essential role of local government in promoting development, particularly in rural and underserved areas like Sampson County.

County Manager Alan Vann opened the meeting, expressing gratitude for the collaboration among local leaders and emphasizing the importance of planning for the future. He highlighted the need for a unified approach to economic development that respects the county's agricultural heritage while seeking new investments and job opportunities.

Ray Jordan, the director of Sampson County Economic Development, introduced the workshop's facilitator, Crystal Morphis, founder and CEO of Creative Economic Development Consulting. Morphis, recognized for her expertise in economic development, was set to lead discussions on various topics, including economic development strategies, local government responsibilities, and collaboration opportunities.

The workshop was designed as a learning opportunity for participants, aiming to equip them with actionable strategies and tools to drive growth and enhance the county's economic landscape.
