Public Comments Focus on School Facilities at ILEA Meeting

The Indianapolis Local Education Alliance (ILEA) held its third meeting on August 22, 2025, focusing primarily on public comments regarding school facilities. The meeting began with a reminder for attendees to keep their comments centered on this topic, as the alliance aims to gather community input to inform future decisions.

Sheena Cavazos facilitated the public comment period, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the one-minute speaking limit for each of the 38 registered speakers. She noted that comments should be directed to the alliance as a whole rather than individual members, and any disruptive behavior could lead to a recess or adjournment of the meeting.

The meeting provided a platform for community members to voice their opinions and concerns about local school facilities. Jordan Habib, the Chief Operating Officer of Adelante Schools, was among the first to speak, indicating a commitment to engaging with the alliance on these critical issues.

The ILEA encouraged participants to submit longer comments via email for consideration, ensuring that all voices could be heard even if time constraints limited in-person remarks. Comments submitted online prior to the meeting were also shared with alliance members and will be made available on the alliance's website in the coming days.
