City Plan Aims for 15-Year Vision with Focus on Sustainability and Economic Growth

Wheat Ridge City is poised to embark on a transformative journey over the next 15 years, following the Wheat Ridge Planning Commission's recent discussions on the adoption of the city plan. This comprehensive plan outlines the community's vision, shared values, and priorities, setting a clear direction for land use, transportation, housing access, and local economic support.

Senior Planner Ella Stevie presented the plan, highlighting the extensive engagement process that involved approximately 515 community members through four open house events. These sessions allowed residents to voice their opinions and contribute to the development of a plan that reflects their values—independence, inclusivity, and a forward-looking approach.

The city plan establishes key planning principles aimed at guiding decision-making to ensure alignment with community values. These principles emphasize serving a diverse range of incomes, preserving the unique character of the city, promoting sustainability, and enhancing the city's fiscal health.
