The Bossier Parish School Board held a regular session on May 1, 2025, where members gathered to discuss various topics, including important community prayer requests. The meeting began with a heartfelt acknowledgment of several individuals facing health challenges.
Board members expressed their support for Mr. Kenneth Wiggins, who is currently unable to attend due to a leg issue. The community was also asked to keep in their thoughts Ben High's counselor, Beth Gephardt, who is battling cancer. Additionally, the board remembered Coach Jeremiah Williams, a high school curriculum supervisor, following the sudden passing of his brother, Bridal Williams, with services scheduled for May 10.
The meeting highlighted the struggles of several educators, including Alexis Tasby from Plantation Park, who is undergoing chemotherapy and preparing for surgery while caring for her one-year-old child. Haught Middle School teacher Heather Valentine is also fighting cancer and is hopeful for clear scans on May 8. Tanya Arnold, a teacher at Halton High School, is facing significant challenges due to ALS, while Danielle Bryant has received positive news regarding her cancer treatment.
In a note of encouragement, the board shared that Tracy Bamberg, the secretary at Plantation Park, is showing improvement in her health as she continues her chemotherapy.
The session concluded with a prayer led by a board member, asking for healing and support for those in need, as well as blessings for the students and staff within the district. The meeting underscored the community's commitment to supporting its members during difficult times.
