Redmond Library Launches Exciting Summer Reading Programs for All Ages
The Redmond Library is gearing up for an engaging summer with the launch of its annual summer reading programs, catering to children, teens, and adults. This year’s theme, "Curious Creatures," invites young readers aged 0 to 17 to explore the wonders of literature through various library-supported activities. In a notable expansion, the library is also introducing an adult summer reading program for those aged 18 and up, encouraging a community-wide love for reading.
Mary Comstock, the librarian at Redmond Library, emphasized the importance of personalized book recommendations. Patrons are encouraged to visit the library to consult with staff, ensuring they find the perfect summer read. For those unable to visit in person, the library offers an online resource called Bookmatch, where users can fill out a form to receive a curated list of book suggestions via email.
Among the most popular titles this summer are "Edge Dancer" by Brandon Sanderson, a fantasy novel that has captured the interest of many, and "To Have and Have More," a romance by Sanibel that reflects the genre's widespread appeal. For teens, "My Brother is a Big Fat Liar" by James Patterson has emerged as a favorite, while younger readers can enjoy "Sword of the Champion: Dragon Forged" by Eric Liddy. Additionally, the library highlights a new picture book, "We Leap Together" by Christopher Silas Neal, which celebrates nature and the outdoors, resonating with the community's love for the Great Pacific Northwest.
As summer unfolds, the Redmond Library invites residents to dive into their reading adventures, whether at the shores of Idlewood Park or within the serene Redmond Watershed. With over 35 parks available as scenic backdrops, the library aims to enhance the reading experience for all community members.
