Glynn County officials are taking significant steps to revamp the Recreation Park's master plan, aiming to enhance facilities and expand recreational activities for a growing population. During a recent County Commission meeting, Mister Gleaves presented an overview of the initiative to update the 1993 Comprehensive Master Plan, emphasizing the need for improved connectivity and new facilities to position Glynn County as a premier recreation destination.

With a current population of 88,000 projected to exceed 95,000 in the coming years, the county is focusing on addressing diverse community needs through a gap analysis of existing parks. Gleaves highlighted that while there is good service coverage in some areas, the northern and western parts of the county are experiencing rapid growth and require additional recreational spaces.

The plan includes proposed future park locations to better serve these high-growth areas. Gleaves noted that Glynn County's investment in parks exceeds national averages, with a strong commitment to maintaining high levels of customer service. However, he pointed out a critical shortfall in indoor recreational space compared to similar counties, which is a key area for future development.
