The Bexar County Commissioners Court meeting on June 24, 2025, featured significant proclamations recognizing two important milestones: the tenth anniversary of the San Antonio Missions as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the fortieth anniversary of Methodist Hospital Northeast.

The meeting commenced with a ceremonial presentation proclaiming July 5, 2025, as World Heritage Day in Bexar County. This recognition celebrates the San Antonio Missions, which were designated a World Heritage Site on July 5, 2015. County Judge Nelson Wolff highlighted the extensive nine-year nomination process, which involved collaboration with the San Antonio Conservation Society and a delegation led by Wolff himself to the UNESCO World Heritage Convention in Bonn, Germany. The San Antonio Missions are the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Texas and one of only 25 in the United States.

Ken McGlamory from the Bexar County Parks Department emphasized the importance of the missions, noting their historical significance and the engineering marvels they represent. Christine Jacobs, Superintendent of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, acknowledged the missions' connection to the indigenous peoples of the area and stressed the importance of ongoing partnerships to preserve this heritage for future generations.

Following this, the court recognized the fortieth anniversary of Methodist Hospital Northeast. Commissioner Calvert presented a proclamation celebrating the hospital's commitment to providing high-quality healthcare to the residents of Northeast Bexar County. Jerica George, CEO of Methodist Hospital Northeast, expressed gratitude for community support and highlighted the hospital's role as a vital healthcare hub, serving over 112,000 patients in the past year and providing nearly $90 million in charity care. She also announced plans for a $146 million expansion to enhance services and facilities.

These proclamations reflect Bexar County's dedication to preserving its cultural heritage and improving community health services, marking significant achievements for both the San Antonio Missions and Methodist Hospital Northeast.
