Following that, Cleanup Los Alamos Day is scheduled for September 20, encouraging community members to come together to tidy up local areas.

In addition to volunteer efforts, the board reviewed the latest sustainability report, revealing that the Eco Station successfully diverted 32% of materials from landfills in July. While this figure is commendable, it marks a decrease from the previous year, prompting discussions on improving waste management strategies. The board also noted the challenges posed by transporting waste to the Valencia Landfill, which is significantly farther and more costly than the Rio Rancho Landfill.
