Over the past two years, San Antonio has invested in housing solutions, resulting in 526 individuals receiving assistance, with 261 successfully transitioning to permanent housing. However, challenges remain, as approximately 200 individuals have returned to homelessness, highlighting the ongoing need for effective support systems.

The council also addressed the rising number of young adults aged 18 to 24 experiencing homelessness, which has increased from 178 to 200. To combat this issue, the city is collaborating with local organizations to develop targeted programs that cater to this vulnerable demographic.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted the city's efforts to manage encampments, with a coordinated approach to assess and address these situations. The city has removed over 1,300 encampments, incurring costs of approximately $2,000 for each cleanup.
