The Austin Police Department (APD) celebrated its Summer Awards Ceremony on August 20, 2025, recognizing the dedication and achievements of its personnel. The event highlighted a new monthly promotional cycle for sworn officers, aimed at enhancing career advancement opportunities within the department.

During the ceremony, Michelle McCune, an administrative supervisor, praised the commitment of the department's staff, particularly acknowledging Victoria for her recent promotion. McCune expressed confidence in Victoria's ability to excel in her new role, emphasizing the importance of strong leadership within the APD.

The ceremony featured the promotion of several officers across various ranks. Notably, 17 individuals were promoted to the rank of Corporal Detective, including Alejandro Lopez, Alexandra Parker, and Andrew Odeen, among others. Additionally, nine officers were elevated to the rank of Sergeant, with names such as Andrew Carroll and Benjamin Hart recognized for their achievements. The event also honored three officers who were promoted to Lieutenant: Adam Torres, Eduardo Pena, and Marcos Johnson.

This new promotional process is expected to foster a more dynamic and responsive police force, ultimately benefiting the Austin community by ensuring that dedicated officers are recognized and rewarded for their service.
