In a recent meeting of the San Antonio Historic and Design Review Commission, community members voiced their opinions on a proposed accessory dwelling unit (ADU) at 2011 West Summit Avenue. Local resident Betty Boucher, representing the Conservation Society, expressed worries about the proposed ADU being taller than the original landmark home. She noted that the only other two-story ADU in the area is significantly narrower, raising questions about the visual impact on the neighborhood's historic character. Boucher emphasized the importance of maintaining the scale and design integrity of the area.

Conversely, several neighbors, including residents Phil Tijerina and another unnamed supporter, expressed their backing for the construction of the garage apartment. They described the current homeowners as responsible and considerate, suggesting that the new structure would be well-coordinated with the existing design of the house.

The Monticello Park Neighborhood Association also weighed in, supporting the project but recommending adjustments to the height of the accessory structure. They pointed out that new constructions should be visually subordinate to the primary historic residence, urging a reduction in the overall height to align with established guidelines.
