City Rehires Greg Hammel as Pretreatment Coordinator to Fill Key Role

The Town of Speedway is celebrating a significant staffing boost with the return of Greg Hammel, who has rejoined the team as the pretreatment coordinator. His experience and familiarity with the role are expected to enhance operational efficiency and reduce the risk of violations, a concern highlighted during the recent Departmental 2026 Budget Meeting.

Hammel, who started his position just yesterday, brings valuable expertise that will eliminate the need for external training, allowing the department to focus on its core functions. "We don't need them anymore because Greg Hammel has been hired back," a department representative noted, emphasizing the importance of having a trained professional in this critical role.

In addition to Hammel's return, the department is on the verge of being fully staffed, with one or two operator positions still open. An offer letter is set to be sent out soon, which will help address ongoing staffing challenges.
