During their recent meeting on August 15, 2025, committee members discussed the results of a survey regarding the current use of AI in practice, revealing that while many practitioners are utilizing AI for administrative tasks such as scheduling and note-taking, its application in direct practice remains limited.

A key highlight of the meeting was the update on federal legislation concerning AI regulation. Previously, a proposal had been introduced that would have prevented states from regulating AI for a decade. However, this language was removed in the Senate version of the bill, alleviating immediate concerns for the committee about potential federal interference in their work.

The committee expressed a keen interest in understanding how AI is being utilized by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and other practitioners. Plans are underway to conduct a follow-up survey to gather more current data, as the rapid evolution of AI technology over the past six months suggests that practitioners' responses may have changed significantly since the initial survey.
