Redondo Beach honors volunteers Carl Leach and Matthew McCauley for community service

The Redondo Beach Public Amenities Commission convened on August 13, 2025, to discuss various agenda items, including the recognition of local volunteers for their significant contributions to the community. The meeting commenced with a pledge of allegiance, followed by procedural adjustments to the agenda, which included moving several items to accommodate guest presentations.

A highlight of the meeting was the presentation of volunteer acknowledgment certificates to Carl Leach and Matthew McCauley. Leach was honored for his extensive volunteer work with the South Bay Parkland Conservancy, where he has dedicated countless hours to beautifying and restoring Wilderness Park. His efforts also included organizing regular volunteer activities and playing a key role in establishing the Alta Vista Community Garden. In recognition of his service, Leach received a certificate and a surfboard as a token of appreciation.

Matthew McCauley was similarly recognized for his leadership in creating the Redondo Sunset Champions League, a baseball program designed to be inclusive for children of all abilities. This initiative has allowed over 40 children to participate in a supportive environment, promoting recreation and community engagement. McCauley, who is set to leave for college at the University of Florida, was also presented with a certificate and a surfboard, acknowledging his impactful contributions.
