Riverside County's Planning Commission has approved a significant new development project that will transform a vacant site in the Southwest area plan into a self-storage and RV facility. The Ranch Diamond Valley project, located east of Winchester Road and south of Coombs Street, will feature six buildings housing 1,027 self-storage units, 39 RV storage spaces, and 15 parking stalls, covering a total area of 1,145,978 square feet.

This project marks a revival of a previously approved plan from 2007, which included a multi-family residential component that has since been constructed. The new facility will operate Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with security measures in place, including video surveillance and individual access codes for customers outside of business hours.

The site is strategically positioned among various land use designations, including commercial retail and medium-density residential areas. The development will incorporate landscaping, with 19% of the site dedicated to greenery, enhancing the visual appeal and environmental quality of the area.

Importantly, the project has not faced any public opposition, as no comments were received during the notification process. The Planning Commission also noted that a fee will be applied to mitigate any potential fire impacts associated with the development.

As Riverside County continues to grow, this project is expected to meet the increasing demand for storage solutions while contributing to the local economy and community infrastructure. The next steps will involve finalizing the implementation details and ensuring compliance with the established conditions.
