San Francisco Port Commission Honors Ramaytush Ohlone and Advances Fisherman's Wharf Plans

During the meeting, public comments were invited, and one notable speaker, Captain Maggie Hallahan, raised concerns about the San Francisco Marina's Gas House Cove. Hallahan, a licensed Coast Guard captain and sea scout leader, urged the Commission to address jurisdiction issues regarding the fuel dock located in the area. She highlighted the importance of this dock for emergency response services and criticized the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department for not being transparent about necessary remediation efforts. Hallahan's testimony underscored the need for the Port Commission to take a more active role in ensuring the safety and environmental integrity of the waterfront.

Executive Director Elaine Forbes noted San Francisco's historic role in the LGBTQ+ rights movement, particularly referencing the Compton Cafeteria riot of 1966.
